PWID Scholarships: Elizabeth Fama PWID Scholarship, The SCBWI-IL PWID Scholarship and The Prairie Prize

SCBWI-Illinois offers two scholarships to members who would like to attend PWID but cannot due to economic concerns: The Elizabeth Fama PWID Scholarship, sponsored by Elizabeth Fama, a generous member of our chapter, and the SCBWI-IL PWID Scholarship. Both scholarships offer free registration; the Elizabeth Fama PWID Scholarship also offers a free critique or portfolio review.

Roughly a month prior to PWID, an announcement is emailed to all SCBWI-Illinois members and  is posted on our listserv as well.  At that time, anyone interested can submit his/her name.  Of those who apply, two names will be drawn at random, one for each scholarship.

These scholarships are nontransferable.  If a winner has to cancel for some reason, another name will be drawn.

The Prairie Prize is awarded to the member illustrator and winner of the Prairie Writer’s and Illustrator’s Day Masthead Contest.  The PWID Committee decides upon a theme for that year’s event.  The Masthead Contest is open to all SCBWI-IL members to illustrate the masthead banner based on the chosen theme. All entries will be placed into an online gallery on the SCBWI-IL website and will be voted on by fellow SCBWI-Illinois members.  The deadline is July 1 and voting takes place thereafter.  The winning illustrator will be credited wherever winning design is used to promote the event and will receive The Prairie Prize: attendance to and (2) fee-paid critiques to Prairie Writer’s and Illustrator’s Day.  The Prairie Prize is sponsored by a generous Illinois member benefactor.

The Prairie Prize is nontransferable. All applicants should make sure that they can attend PWID.  No cash equivalent will be awarded.
