WOW: Words on the Web Wired Weekend

 

Come on a virtual escape with Words on the Web, an intense, wired weekend of revision and up-close critique with faculty and fellow writers!

 

Our WOW Faculty will lead you through intense revision strategies, critiquing your work-in-progress before AND during our Wired Weekend!. Enjoy multiple opportunities to connect in small groups with fellow participants and faculty! Socialize at our Connected Campfire and take a Wired Walk to kickstart our WOW of a weekend!

CONNECTED CAMPFIRE: LIVE

— Gather Friday evening ’round our virtual campfire, hear from our faculty and introduce yourself.

 

 

 

WOW WRITTEN MANUSCRIPT CRITIQUE: Preliminary Feedback 

— You’ll submit a work-in-progress for written critique to one of our industry professionals, returned in advance of the weekend, giving you time to revise.

— Attendees may request to be assigned to our editor or our agent.  Requests are made during registration and are considered but not guaranteed. (See 2020 WOW WRITTEN MANUSCRIPT CRITIQUE GUIDELINES, at right).

 

 

WIRED WALK

— Gather Saturday AM for a guided, walk through a virtual wood and a writing exercise.

 

 

CONNECTED CRITIQUE GROUPS: LIVE Follow-up Feedback 

—Connect virtually with your assigned critique group before and during our Wired Weekend for peer critiques.

—Choose the day you prefer to meet.  For participants that observe a Saturday sabbath, you may request to be a part of a Connected Critique Group that would meet with an industry professional on Sunday. Requests are made during registration.  

—During our Wired Weekend, your critique group will be joined by your assigned industry faculty member for feedback. (See 2020 CONNECTED CRITIQUE GROUPS, at right).

 

 

CONNECTED CRAFT SESSIONS with Adria Goetz and Erin Siu: RECORDED

—Connected Craft speeches will give you intensive revision strategies and the opportunity to learn submission secrets from our industry professionals  (See 2020 CONNECTED CRAFT, at right).

—You may purchase one or both Connected Craft Sessions á la carte–without participating in the WOW Wired Weekend. However, ability to submit to Erin Siu’s closed house requires full payment of WOW Wired Weekend.

Conclude our WOW Wired Weekend with a Q & A Panel with our industry professionals to find out more about their agency/house, their wish lists, and how you might submit to their closed house/agency.

One registered SCBWI-IL Member could win the Becky Mabry Go for It Scholarship! To be considered, you must be an Illinois SCBWI member registered for the conference.  Application MUST be received no later than MAY 25st(See 2020 WOW SCHOLARSHIP, at right for details.)
