 Among the topics Sarah will discuss on Wednesday, November 6, at 7PM CST:

–How to navigate our NEW 2019-2020 SCBWI-IL READ LOCAL webpages.
–How to get a #ReadLocalIllinois Ambassador to your school, library or bookstore.
–How to get to know our #ReadLocalIllinois Authors and Illustrators through the SCBWI-IL Read Local Blog.
–How to participate in a a collaborative #ReadLocalIllinois Event with SCBWI-IL Authors and Illustrators!


Illinois teachers, librarians and booksellers can sign up for a visit from a #ReadLocalIllinois Ambassador during registration.  Illinois teachers and librarians who choose this option will be entered into a drawing to win an opportunity for a paid school visit thanks to a grant from iCARE!

Ambassadors are #IllinoisReadLocal PALs who will visit local teachers, librarians and booksellers in their school district/community.
–An Ambassador sets up a visit which should take no longer than 10-15 minutes. During the scheduled visit, Ambassadors will introduce the 2019-2020 Read Local Poster and give their contact local PALs’ swag–like bookmarks and school visit brochures. Ambassadors can also discuss opportunities to collaborate on events.
–Illinois teachers and librarians currently employed in an Illinois school who sign up for a #IllinoisReadLocal Ambassador visit during online registration will be entered into a drawing to win a free school visit, thanks to a grant to SCBWI-IL from iCARE.

–Registration is open to all, both members and not-yet-members of SCBWI, who are interested in hearing more about the program and how to utilize it.
–Illinois teachers, librarians, independent booksellers & 2019-2020 SCBWI-IL Read Local authors and illustrators are encouraged to attend!
–Online registration closes on 04 November at 12 PM CST.

Sarah Aronson began writing for kids and teens when someone in an exercise class dared her to try. Since then, she has earned an MFA in Writing for Children and Young Adults from Vermont College of Fine Arts, and published three novels: Head Case, Beyond Lucky, and Believe, The Wish List series as well as her first picture book biography, Just Like Rube Goldberg. When Sarah is not writing or reading (or cooking or riding her bike), she is talking to readers about creativity, writing, and of course, sparkle power! She loves working with other writers in one of her classes at Writers on the Net ( ) or the amazing Highlights Foundation ( She’s currently working hard on the Read Local initiative for PALs in our amazing SCBWI-Illinois.
