Founder and CEO Patricia Stockland is a seasoned executive in children’s publishing. Prior to starting Kind World Publishing, she led change and growth initiatives as publisher for Capstone, VP and editor in chief for Lerner Publishing Group, and editorial director for Red Line Editorial, among other roles. She’s authored more than 80 books and edited and concepted numerous others. Her expertise spans creative work and continual improvement across operations. Rebecca Siegel, FFT Co-Coordinator, SCBWI-IL PAL & Published Team

Rebecca Siegel has a masters degree in English Literature from Loyola University, Chicago. She has worked in children’s publishing for over a decade, and has two Middle Grade books out this year: TO FLY AMONG THE STARS (Scholastic) and MAYFLOWER (Quarto). To learn more, visit







Lizzie Cooke, FFT Co-Coordinator, SCBWI-IL PAL & Published Team

Lizzie Cooke is a children’s writer with a love of trees, ice cream, and—of course—books. Her first publication was a poem in Cicada, a literary magazine for teens formerly published by Cricket Media. Her young adult novel The Word We Don’t Say was a runner-up in the 2018 Helen Sheehan YA Book Prize contest from Elephant Rock Books. She is also a contributor to the nonfiction anthology Coming of Age at the End of Nature (Trinity University Press). To learn more, visit
