Join us to chat with Jennifer Ward, author of 26 books for children over the course of 23 years (and all books still in print!)

Jennifer’s books have received many honors, including an ALA Notable for Mama Built a Little Nest, illustrated by Caldecott medalist Steve Jenkins (Beach Lane Books), three starred reviews for What Will Grow?, illustrated by Susie Ghahremani (Beach Lane Books), a Hornbook Fanfare Selection for How to Find a Bird, illustrated by Diana Sudyka (Beach Lane Books), among many others. Her book, There Was a Coyote Who Swallowed a Flea, illustrated by Steve Gray, has even been integrated into the architecture of the Buckeye Public Library in Arizona where the larger-than-life book in 3D format houses the children’s book selection.

Jennifer will share strategies for mining ideas, turning ideas into stories and the many ins and outs of making sure each “book baby” gets the attention it deserves once launched into the big, wide world via networking, marketing and adapting to the ever changing book world (Hello, virtual visits!)

Network Guest, Jennifer Ward

Her books have been translated into many languages and featured in Martha Stewart’s Living, Ranger Rick, on NPR, television’s Animal Planet network, and on many popular blogs such as Soule Mama. She writes full-time from her home in Illinois where she lives with her husband and two dogs and is easily distracted by everything outside of her windows – particularly if it has feathers!
