SCBWI-IL Diversity & Inclusion Potluck

Join SCBWI-IL and our hosts Urania Smith and Adrian Miller for a potluck in their home.

Come for an evening of community, good food and conversation with fellow diverse members and allies on Saturday, August 24.


–Bring your appetite, a dish to pass & ideas to improve inclusion within SCBWI-IL.


–Members of your Regional Team & Diversity Committee will be on hand to listen and take note.


–Interested in volunteering for inclusion-based events or our Diversity Committee?  This is your chance to introduce yourself!


–Not a SCBWI member–no problem!   Not-Yet-Members interested in SCBWI-IL are welcome to RSVP.

–Bring a dish to share: Guests are asked to bring a dish or snack to share.  Not sure what to bring?  In that case, if your last name begins A-H, you might bring an snack/appetizer; I-P might bring a casserole; Q-Z may choose to bring a dessert. All contributions are very welcome.

–Neighborhood Street Parking:  Members, feel free to use the Listserv to a arrange car-pool to this south-suburban location.

— RSVP is required: Guests over 18 only, please.  If you intend to bring a companion, please RSVP and then email the Registrar with your total guest count.  You will will be informed of the south-suburban address after responding.  


Let’s show up for one another!  Our focus on diversity springs from the #WeNeedDiverseBooks movement: We recognize all diverse experiences, including (but not limited to) LGBTQIA, Native, people of color, gender diversity, people with disabilities, and ethnic, cultural, and religious minorities.  If you are interested in building an inclusive and equitable Region, we hope you’ll join us!
