FEATURING PITCH PERFECT PROGRAMMING:
An informal interview with SCBWI-IL PAL author-illustrator Jacqueline Alcantara, who will discuss her debut year.
A panel, during which our local industry professionals will “pitch” their house or agency and tell you why they should have your next work-in-progress. SCBWI-IL PAL professionals will join them to discuss the art of pitching their work.
Pitch Perfect Sessions during which YOU will have up to (3) minutes TO PITCH up to (3) projects to an agent or editor seated at your table. This local industry professional will select the most promising of the (3) and you will read its first page and receive instant, professional feedback on that work-in-progress. Attendees will bring hard copies of their log lines and (10) copies of each of their first pages. Illustrators are invited to bring dummys in addition to their first pages as collateral material only. (See PITCH PERFECT SESSIONS, at right)
Novel or Picture Book Craft Breakouts are offered opposite Pitch Perfect Sessions to give you the opportunity to learn trade secrets from our own, award-winning, Illinois PAL teachers. (See CRAFT BREAKOUTS, at right).
A special appearance by Linda Camacho, agent with Gallt & Zacker Literary Agency, during which she will announce the winner of the 2018 SCBWI-IL Many Voices Outstanding Manuscript Prize. Application opens February 09. (See DIVERSITY INITIATIVES, at right)
Optional Written Manuscript Critiques provide even more opportunity! A limited number of written manuscript critiques by editors and agents are offered for an additional $40 fee. (See OPTIONAL WRITTEN MANUSCRIPT CRITIQUES, at right)

Attendance and Written Manuscript Critique fees are non-refundable. Attendance is non-transferable. If you cannot attend, please email the registrar, Deborah Topolski , so that someone may be removed from the Wait List. No walk-in registration.
