#ReadLOCALIllinois at Anderson’s & IRC 2023

 

Promote at Anderson’s Children’s Literature Breakfast and IRC
On Saturday, February 25th, #ReadLocalILLINOIS will be at Anderson’s Bookshops 21st Annual Children’s Literature Breakfast, Naperville
March 9-10 finds us at Booth #519 at  Illinois Reading Council Conference, Springfield.
All published members are invited to mail swag and join us to make 800 swag bags for educators to promote YOU.
Not attending? No problem!
 This is a community effort to boost & support one another with lots of ways for all PALs to help.

 

Here is some information for storytellers:

February 25th: #ReadLocalILLINOIS will be at Anderson’s Bookshops 21st Annual Children’s Literature Breakfast, Naperville
Invitations to local authors/illustrators/translators have already been sent.
If you haven’t yet received an invitation, please understand that a storyteller has already been invited to present to your table.

March 9-10: #ReadLocalILLINOIS will be at Illinois Reading Council Conference, Springfield.Take advantage of this opportunity to hand-sell your PAL books, engage teachers and pass out #ReadLocalILLINOIS posters, swag bags and prize book bundles at our IRC booth, #519. Boost and promote your yourself and your colleagues alongside veteran conference coordinator, Louann Brown and members of the IL Regional Team. Thousands of teachers (PreK-High School), their administrators, and librarians will attend.   SCBWI-IL hosts a booth to promote PAL published books and author visits. We are looking for people who would like to take advantage of this opportunity to promote their book(s), the organization, and the books of our colleagues.

This is a community effort with LOTS of ways to contribute.Email PAL Coordinator Reese Eschmann if work or distance are an issue but you want to help or donate to defray costs.

 

We invite all of you—whether you are coming to the events or not—to send us swag!

As a group, we will be making swag bags for 800 educators to promote all published SCBWI-IL members. We ask you to plan to donate at least an hour or two to help pack swag bags on February 15 (11 AM —1 PM).
—Lunch will be offered.
—Cannot pack due to work, distance. Ask Reese how you can help.

—All storytellers’ promo pieces will be sent to Anderson’s, as Anderson’s sells indie an trade books.
PAL members’ promo pieces will be packaged for IRC to comply with SCBWI guidelines.

HOW CAN I BECOME A SCBWI PAL MEMBER? 

Have a signed contract or a published book by a publisher recognized as PAL by SCBWI? Upgrade your member status to PAL Member!

Remember, upgrading your SCBWI Member Status to PAL is as easy as a few clicks! If you’ve signed a contract for an upcoming PAL book or have a published  book, log into www.scbwi.org and go to your MEMBER PROFILE page.  Here, you can upload your new title into the bookstore.  This will automatically upgrade your member status to PAL. Don’t see your publisher in the drop-down list? SCBWI PAL Guidelines. If you publisher meets the criteria, fill out the PAL Request Form Take advantage of all that your SCBWI membership has to offer and update your member status for FREE by logging into your SCBWI MEMBER PROFILE today!

ONE design per writer/illustrator.
Your swag should fit in a zipped plastic bag.
Your swag can be:

—A book mark
—A postcard
—A flyer OR
—A drawing.
